Cookie Policy
Draft for legal review. Prepared against Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, §25 TDDDG (Germany) and EDPB Guidelines 2/2023 and 05/2020.
We store information on your device only when it is strictly necessary for a service you asked for, or after you consent. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies on the first screen of the banner — rejecting is as easy as accepting — and change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

The embeddable search widget on our customers' sites
The widget stores small values in the visitor's browser. Our customer decides whether to enable personalisation and must obtain consent where required.
| Key | Storage | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
aac_client_id | localStorage — only when the host page reports consent (persistClientId); otherwise kept in memory for the page only | remembers recent searches and personalises ranking for returning visitors | until cleared or consent withdrawn | consent |
aac_visit_id, visit start | sessionStorage | groups one visit for "viewed together" and click attribution | session | consent where required by the customer's setup |
| query-by-document map, click count | sessionStorage | attributes clicks to the query that produced them | session | consent where required by the customer's setup |
When consent is refused or withdrawn, the widget keeps no persistent visitor id, removes what it stored, and searches without personal ranking.
Changing consent
Use "Cookie settings" in the footer, or clear cookies and site data in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before.
